About the GTWA

The Greater Toronto Workers’ Assembly is an ambitious project dedicated to left-regroupment, providing an open space for voices on the left, and developing a radical politics for the 21st Century. We want to build solidarity amongst the working class, defined in the broadest terms, throughout Canada and internationally, among workers who are unionized and non-unionized, underemployed and unemployed, public and private sector, who do paid and unpaid housework and childcare, are denied full citizenship status, face discrimination because of disability or gender identity, including queer and trans people, and who live in abject poverty at the edges of society.

We are anti-capitalist, anti-racist, feminist, and queer-positive organizers committed to an anti-oppression politics that stands against imperialism, including Canadian imperialism, in the Middle East, Africa, Latin American, and the Caribbean. We stand against all forms of discrimination, including Islamophobia, Israeli apartheid, anti-Semitism, and racial profiling. We are committed to indigenous struggle, environmental sustainability, and the fight to rebuild a democratic and militant labour movement.
